Alison & Garvan’s Wedding

June 10, 2012

Having just finished my teaching practicum, it was only too perfect to photograph Alison & Garvan’s Wedding! This lovely couple flew all the way from England, where Alison is an elementary teacher, to get married in Whistler, BC. Their wedding was elegant and stunning, yet fabulously kid friendly, which is a remarkable accomplishment in itself!! I believe this is due to their natural loving nature and Alison’s gift for early childhood education. They included 7 little bridesmaids and ring bearers in their wedding party (you could tell the little ones were so excited to be a part of such a big occasion)  and the artwork of one of Alison’s English students was even featured on their ceremony program. Too cute for words!

A moment of quiet in the middle of an exiting day…..

I wish you both the best! You will be wonderful parents and I know you will have a long and happy life together as husband & wife.

Cheers,

Jen.  xoxo

Jennifer & Aaron’s Wedding

January 17, 2012

Jen and Aaron are absolutely adorable in every way! I loved photographing these two and being a part of their heart-warming winter wedding.  There is something so magical and exciting about the bustle, and twinkling lights of the Christmas holidays. Their December 30th wedding made this season feel even more special . I will never forget the look of joy on Aaron’s face as he grabbed my hand and said, “Isn’t this the best wedding ever?!!” He looked like he was on cloud nine as he stood with his arm around his stunning new wife. It makes me smile, just thinking about how much fun Jen and Aaron and all their guests were having. I hope everyone gets to experience that level of joy!

Chelsea & Shawn’s Wedding

October 29, 2011

Chelsea and Shawn both come from very loving and supportive families, and it was a beautiful thing to witness their wedding at the Bill Reid Gallery in the heart of down town Vancouver. When these two kissed, the entire room erupted with cheers and applause…I have never experienced anything like it! While their guests kicked off a cocktail reception, we stole away to Stanley Park for a handful of intimate portraits. Shawn Edenshaw happens to be an incredible artist (he takes after his father Jim and famous great-grandfather Charles Edenshaw) and carved all the jewellery worn by him and his stunning wife Chelsea. We had a fabulous time and I knew the dappled light through the cedar trees would not only create a beautiful setting, but also be very appropriate for Shawn’s Haida heritage.

Kala & Casey’s Wedding

October 15, 2011

I love these two! Kala & Casey are not only beautiful people (inside & out) but they are also incredibly friendly and super fun to be around. Since Casey is a professional bartender (and an all around good guy) we were able arrange a pre-wedding photo shoot at the coveted George Lounge & Brix Restaurant in Yale town. It was a fantastic location and seemed an appropriate setting for these two fabulous Vancouverites who are always the life of the party.

After an exciting afternoon getting ready with their friends, Kala & Casey headed off to one of Vancouver’s most beautiful wedding locations right by Kits Beach…and saw each other for the first time during a sunset ceremony.  The festivities began the second they walked back down the aisle as Mr. & Mrs McKay and continued until the wee hours of the morning.  Mark,  Sherri Koop (my 2nd shooter….a fabulous photographer in her own right) and I had a difficult time tearing ourselves away from the reception. We knew we were leaving a seriously good party!

Thank you

November 11, 2010

Wow….another wedding season has come and gone. Just before I settle down to the calmer winter months, I just want to send out a big “Thank You,” to Lise & Jeff, Jan & Jeremy, Nicole & Jim, Nina & John, Kristjana & Chris, Jenn & Brad, Lindsay & Bruce, Melanie & Morgan, Allie & Mike, and Emily & Corey. Thank you so much for letting us in to your lives and allowing us to be a part of such an intimate & special day. Mark and I feel honored.

…And of course, I cannot forget to send an extra special thank you to Mark: “Thank you for your patience and your willingness to do whatever it takes to help me get the best shot. I couldn’t do this without you. I love you!” Here’s a shot of the man himself while we were location scouting in Charlottetown:

Allie & Mike’s Wedding

September 18, 2010

Allie and Mike are deeply in love and hosted a really exciting wedding! For starters, they decided to get married on Friday the 13. These two make their own luck, so they drank Lucky lager as a little wink & a nod to the superstitious. They also really know how to have fun and hosted the party to end all parties! Hart House was the ideal venue for Allie & Mike because everything was beautiful and in one place…ceremony, reception and bridal party photos all took place on the same grassy field overlooking Burnaby Lake.  I don’t say this very often…but… it was perfect.

There were so many fantastic things to capture on their wedding day I almost didn’t know what to do with myself.  However, after looking at all my film, I think this single B&W image really captures the essence of their Wedding Day. It was pure joy.

Melanie & Morgan’s Wedding

September 14, 2010

Melanie & Morgan were married at a gorgeous little resort called Edgewater. I was so impressed with them and their choice of venue….it was gorgeous, very private, and only five minutes from Whistler village! An absolute hidden gem! Melanie & Morgan have excellent taste. *wink*

I think the most important thing for these two hard-working lawyers was to spend some well-deserved quality time with their friends and family. To honour Melanie & Morgan’s need to entertain their guests, we decided to take all their wedding portraits before the ceremony.  This way, they could maximize their play time. It was a fantastic solution…and it allowed Melanie & Morgan to have a tender moment alone when they first laid eyes on each other.

Lindsay & Bruce’s Wedding

September 8, 2010

Lindsay and Bruce have created a beautiful family together. They decided to honor their relationship by hosting  a big wedding celebration at the Stanley Park Rowing Club.  The sun shone down on their afternoon ceremony and gave Lindsay & Bruce the fairy tale wedding that they had always dreamed of.

I met Lindsay & her three boys under the Light House (one of my favorite photography locations EVER!) before the ceremony to get a few family photos.  I was so impressed with how Avery, Ben, and Connor handled themselves. They were great little models! I think they appreciated some mommy time. You would never guess that this woman has three children…she is so tiny and absolutely stunning! Bruce is a lucky man. *wink*

Jenn & Brad’s Wedding

August 25, 2010

I adore backyard weddings because they always seem so relaxed and fun. There is something about the familiarity of space that puts everyone at ease.  I can certainly see why Jenn & Brad chose to host their wedding at her family home in Nanaimo, BC.  It was also absolutely stunning! The garden spilled right onto the beach. I was in my happy place running around photographing everything in sight. The weather was beautiful, and their friends in the wine & food business helped throw an incredible party. Mark & I had so much fun photographing this wedding, we didn’t want to leave!

Nicole & Jim’s Wedding

July 15, 2010

Nicole and Jim’s relaxed and loving nature helped create one of the most easy going weddings I have ever been to.  It was an absolute dream! These two smart cookies also figured out that the SFU Alumni Centre is a gorgeous wedding venue. I was thoroughly impressed. The campus architecture provided a stunning yet neutral backdrop for us to run around, take photos, and throw confetti…who doesn’t l like throwing confetti? Seriously good times! On top of that, there were spectacular fields of lupins within walking distance for us to picnic in. Strawberries, champagne & animal crackers are the secret to a great day…and a beautiful marriage for Nicole and Jim.  😉
